In Participants on January 5, 2011 at 9:29 am
Chef Robert Weidmaier, owner of Marcel‘s, one of the Washingtonian‘s Top 100 Restaurants of 2010, will be cooking for our VIPs at Sugar & Champagne this year.

Chef Robert Wiedmaier

His upscale French restaurant, known for it’s three-course pre-theater menu including Mercedes car service to the Kennedy Center and take-home madeleines, is consistently at the top of everyone’s lists. The honey-lit, plush dining room draws in the special occasion diners. The West-End Belgian French menu garners awards from the critics. And, most recently, the food tops the Top Food category in Zagat’s 2011 Washington DC/Baltimore Restaurants from the diners.
Named DC’s Chef of the Year in 2009 by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, his talent for cooking stems from his great respect for the product. He’s passionate about being a Full Circle Chef — whether waiting for the fish to bite or stalking deer, Weidmaier has developed a deep sense of appreciation and responsibility for the animals he sources from area farms. His practice of whole animal butchery is a hallmark of his five kitchens and a testament to his classic style, especially in his first restaurant, Marcel’s where his labor-intensive classic cuisines requires superior attention to detail and a high chef-to-guest ratio.
The multi-course menu features a range of French Belgian-inspired dishes from filet of turbotin in a delicate beurre blanc and venison with a rich reduction of Carmenere wine to souffle specials and his signature dish Boudin Blanc, an elegant mousse-filled sausage.
Experience Marcel’s standout French fare along with the other top area chefs with a ticket to the special VIP Chefs Tasting Room — a limited number of tickets are available for $150. General reception tickets are available for $90. For tickets and more information >
